Mowalola and Jordan Brand have an Air Jordan 14 in Burnt Red reported for September 18 at $255, with a backless Mule version of the same shoe landing the same day at $180. Ten days out, neither Nike nor Jordan Brand has published anything about either pair. No SNKRS page, no newsroom item, no product listing. Everything below comes from reporting and from marketplace pre-listings, and that is worth saying plainly before anyone plans a Friday morning around it.
The Air Jordan 14 carries the most misremembered timeline in the Jordan line. Michael Jordan wore a prototype pair on June 14, 1998, in Game 6 against Utah, a 45-point night in an 87 to 86 win that closed out his Bulls career. The shoe was not in stores that night and would not be for months. It reached retail on October 31, 1998, in white, black and varsity red at $150, and the black and red pair everyone now calls Last Shot did not arrive until March 1999. Jordan also wore the 14 in only three games of that series, Games 3, 4 and 6, and played the other three in the Air Jordan 13. Two designers are named on its patent, Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith, filed in April 1998 and issued October 27 as design patent USD400,000. Nike archive copy credits Hatfield alone, so the patent is what settles the second name. The car story is real but it is not Nike language. Nike says the model reimagined a shoe as a car without naming a marque, and the Ferrari 550 attribution comes from press rather than from the brand.

The Mowalola lace-up runs aged brown leather with black soles and black tongues and Mowalola script across the outer wall, under a colorway string reported as Black and Burnt Red with Metallic Gold. The Mule is the more interesting half of the pack and most coverage has treated it as a footnote. Style code IR0908-001, $180, Black and Metallic Silver with Burnt Red, no laces and no proper heel counter, and by the count at JustFreshKicks the first time the Air Jordan 14 has been produced in a backless format in the twenty-eight years the model has existed. A first on a silhouette that old is rare. It is also the kind of move a fashion label gets to make with a Jordan Brand pattern that Jordan Brand does not make on its own. The earlier version of this post said Paris Fashion Week gave the first real look at the shoes. That is not right. Style codes, prices and colorways were published on June 2, three weeks before Paris, and Mowalola does not appear on the official Men’s SS27 calendar for June 23 to 28. What Paris gave was the first in-person look at finished samples.

Mowalola Ogunlesi was born in Lagos in 1994 and works out of London. She finished at Central Saint Martins in 2017 and showed at London Fashion Week in January 2019 through Fashion East. She was design director at Yeezy Gap from June 2020, a role she left before that line folded in September 2022, and she has released footwear with New Balance on the 9060 and with Crocs on the Bae Clog. This is her first Jordan Brand shoe, whatever one aggregator has published to the contrary. The read on the silence is that this stays a fashion-side release. A first collaboration with a designer of her profile would normally arrive with a Nike newsroom item and a SNKRS calendar slot weeks out. Ten days from a reported Friday launch there is neither, which points at a small run through her own channels and a limited Jordan Brand retailer list rather than a general SNKRS event.
At $255 the lace-up is priced well above a general-release Air Jordan 14 retro and $105 above what the model cost in 1998. The Mule at $180 is the cheaper entry and the one carrying the novelty, which is an unusual way around for a collaboration. There is no useful resale read yet. StockX has the Burnt Red pair at a lowest ask of $275 against a $255 retail with no completed sales at all, which is what a pre-release page looks like rather than a demand signal. Anyone quoting a premium on this shoe today is quoting an ask.
The Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 in Burnt Red is reported for September 18 at $255 under style code IQ5708-001, with the Mule the same day at $180 under IR0908-001. Expect them through Nike SNKRS and Mowalola, with Jordan Brand accounts likely to follow. Because none of it is brand-confirmed, treat the date as consensus rather than fact. The Air Jordan 14 hub collects the recent retros, including the Forest Green pair and the Black Ostrich low, and the rest of the line sits in the Air Jordan archive.
