Albino & Preto is bringing its jiu-jitsu roots to the ASICS GEL-KAYANO 12.1, working alongside Tokyo retailer atmos on a two-shoe pack. The white pair is the brighter of the two.

ASICS has been running the Kayano line since the early 1990s, named for designer Toshikazu Kayano, and the model spent most of its life as a stability trainer rather than a fashion piece. That changed over the past several years as the early-2000s runner look came back around. The GEL-KAYANO 12.1 keeps the layered upper of the original 12 but sits on GEL-NIMBUS 17 tooling, which gives it the vintage silhouette with a more current setup underfoot.
The white version uses a mesh base with silver-toned overlays and neon green running across the laces, branding, side panels, heel, and midsole. Albino & Preto branding sits on the tongue. A black pair with the same green accents releases alongside it.
Albino & Preto has spent years building an apparel brand around jiu-jitsu, and atmos has been one of ASICS’ most consistent collaborators in Japan. Putting the two together on a Kayano makes sense in a way a lot of three-way projects do not. That signals ASICS is being more selective about who it hands the Kayano to, which matters as the model keeps drawing collaborator attention.
