ASICS is re-releasing the GEL-KAYANO 14 in Black and Cream, reviving a silhouette that defined early 2000s running shoe design. The GEL-KAYANO 14 holds particular significance in the shoe’s lineage as the first iteration designed by someone other than Toshikazu Kayano, the original architect of the franchise. Despite this transition, the model successfully maintained the signature values that made the GEL-KAYANO line a staple while pushing the performance formula forward.
This reissue stays true to the 2008 original with the same midsole tooling and GEL cushioning technology that runners relied on. The TRUSSTIC support system handles stability without compromising comfort. The upper retains the layered synthetic leather and mesh construction that gave the shoe its distinctive look, though ASICS refined the fit for modern wearers without drastically altering the aesthetic.

Beyond nostalgia, this release includes environmental improvements. The sockliner uses a solution dyeing process that cuts water usage by 33 percent and reduces carbon emissions by approximately 45 percent compared to traditional methods. It is a subtle but meaningful upgrade for a shoe built on heritage.
The GEL-KAYANO 14 in Black and Cream is available now at ASICS in men’s sizes 5 through 14. The shoe is priced at $165. This is a limited release with a one-pair-per-customer purchase limit, and the retailer notes that limited-release styles are not eligible for refunds, returns, or cancellations after order placement.
