The latest iteration of Nike‘s longest-running franchise arrived in April 2026 with the Pegasus 42, bringing a technological breakthrough from the premium Pegasus tier down to the standard model. A curved Zoom Air unit hidden inside the midsole was the headline update, carrying over innovation from the Pegasus Premium into more accessible pricing territory.

The Pegasus 42 continued a lineage stretching back to 1983, making it one of the most continuously iterated running shoes in history. Nike‘s ability to find genuine improvements each generation while maintaining broad accessibility has kept the Pegasus franchise relevant across decades.

The Nike Pegasus 42 retailed at $145 and released April 9, 2026 through Nike.com and major footwear retailers worldwide.
