Nike is bringing back the Air Max 97 Silver Bullet for 2027, and this time the classic colorway is getting a small but noticeable change: a black mesh tongue in place of the original grey one.

With the Air Max 97 turning 30 in 2027, Nike has started teasing anniversary releases, including an early look at this updated Silver Bullet shown at Paris Fashion Week. The change is focused on the tongue, which now appears in jet black rather than the greyed-out tone from the original. Laces also appear in black. It is a restrained update that keeps the shoe recognizable while giving collectors a reason to pick up another pair. A laceless version of the Air Max 97 was also spotted around the same time, suggesting Nike has more than one variation planned for the anniversary year.
A specific release date for the Nike Air Max 97 Silver Bullet 2027 edition has not been confirmed, though a Spring 2027 window is possible, potentially around Air Max Day.
