Puma is bringing one of its most recognizable silhouettes into the Pokémon universe with the Puma Suede Pokémon Pikachu. The shoe wraps the classic Suede in a yellow and black colorway pulled straight from the franchise’s most famous character.
The Puma Suede has been around since 1968, when it landed on basketball courts before crossing over into hip hop, b-boy culture, and streetwear. Few sneakers carry that kind of range. Over the decades it has become a blank canvas for collaborations, and pairing it with Pokémon continues a long run of pop culture tie-ins for the brand.
To me this signals Puma leaning further into licensing partnerships that reach beyond the core sneaker crowd. A Pikachu makeover on a heritage model is built to pull in collectors, kids, and casual fans at the same time. At $300, this sits well above a standard Suede, which tells you Puma is treating it as a limited collector piece rather than a general release. The simple shape gives the theme room to breathe, and the yellow and black reads instantly without a character print across the whole upper.
