The New Balance 1890P Fairweather Blue arrives August 26, 2026, following an August 19 launch overseas.

New Balance built the 1890 as a hybrid that pulls from the 890v3 and the archival 2002, and the P version adds a plated, more built up frame on top of that base. Thicker lateral overlays wrap the forefoot, and leather replaces the thinner synthetic on the teardrop heel panel. The Fairweather Blue pair runs a mostly flooded blue upper broken up by contrasting purple across the reinforced forefoot, with a Team Red version launching alongside it.
The speed of the rollout is the story. New Balance has already spun the 1890 into multiple sub models, which is the same playbook that turned the 2002R and the 990 line into deep, self sustaining families. That signals real confidence in the silhouette, because the brand is investing in variants before the original has fully proven itself at retail. At $180 it sits above the 574 tier and just under Made in USA pricing, which puts it squarely at the buyer who already owns a few pairs of 2002Rs and wants something with more structure. More drops are in our releases feed.
