The Nike Zoom Hyperflight returns in a SLAM Magazine collaboration finished in Safety Orange, and the wider release lands on August 25, 2026.

The Hyperflight first showed up in 2003 as one of Nike Basketball‘s stranger experiments, a one-piece design built on a stretch upper with almost no visible paneling. It never got a signature athlete attached to it. It got something arguably better, which was constant magazine coverage during the years when guard play was speeding up and basketball shoes were getting lighter.
That is where SLAM comes in. If you were reading about basketball shoes in the late nineties and early 2000s, SLAM KICKS was the section you turned to first, and the magazine’s orange logo is the reference point here. Orange patent leather covers most of the upper, with a white Swoosh on the lateral toe, grey on the tongue, laces, and outsole, and black structural hits on the side panel.
This signals Nike leaning harder on the part of its archive that was culturally loud but commercially quiet. The Foamposite Pro and the Hyperflight both fit that description. Pairing one of them with a media brand rather than an athlete is a different kind of storytelling, and it works because SLAM’s readership and the Hyperflight’s original audience are the same people, now with disposable income.
This one is aimed squarely at the crowd that remembers pulling the poster out of the middle of the magazine.
