Salomon opens a raffle on October 5 for the ACS NEXXT “The Green Star” by Feid, and the shoe that comes out of it is doing something slightly perverse. The loudest thing on it, a green cow print that covers the entire outsole, is the part nobody sees once the shoe is on a foot. Feid’s second run with Salomon is built around a detail that only shows itself when the shoes come off or the wearer puts his feet up.
The ACS NEXXT belongs to Salomon’s ACS family, the group the brand has built around its agileCHASSIS system, a stability frame that sits between the upper and the sole and keeps the foot from rolling off the platform. Salomon is a mountain company first and that chassis exists for ground that moves underfoot, but the ACS line has become the most fashion-legible thing the brand makes, because the chassis and the caged upper read as technical from across a room. Salomon’s own copy for the NEXXT says the quiet part out loud, describing the caged upper as a matter of style recognition rather than performance.
The NEXXT is the newer and more sculpted end of that family rather than the ACS Pro that collaborators kept reaching for. A-COLD-WALL* worked on the Pro. The NEXXT is the shape Salomon has been pushing since, and giving it to a musician rather than a design label is a different kind of bet for a brand that has mostly collaborated with designers.

The colorway is listed as Black, Bright Green and Green Gecko. The upper is close to all black, with iridescent panels that shift toward purple in the light and a chrome finish on the hardware, and then the sole arrives in a green saturated enough to look lit from inside. The cow print is the signature move. It covers the full outsole in black on green and carries up onto the sidewall and around the heel, which is the only place a bystander is going to catch it. Salomon also puts Feid’s hand-drawn signature on the woven label, the kind of detail that costs a brand nothing and tends to matter a great deal to the people actually buying.

The specs are ordinary for the family. Salomon’s listing gives an 11 millimeter drop and 13 ounces per unit, so this was never built to be a light shoe, and the chassis is the reason.
Salomon has spent the past several years turning itself from a trail brand into a fashion one, and the collaborator list has leaned heavily on designers and boutiques. Feid is a different lever entirely. He is one of the largest artists in Latin music, and he arrives with a color his audience already reads as his before any logo appears. Salomon’s copy calls it signature Ferxxo green and does not bother explaining the reference, which tells you who the shoe is aimed at. The green is doing the work a co-brand usually has to do.
Collaborations with Latin artists at this level have been rare and have mostly run through the American brands. Bad Bunny’s work with adidas is the reference everyone reaches for, and it held up because the shoes were worth owning before the name went on them. Salomon starts from a stronger silhouette than most brands could offer and from a smaller footprint in that market, which makes this the more interesting of the two experiments rather than the safer one.

There is also a coincidence neither side has leaned on. Feid’s legal name is Salomón Villada Hoyos. A Colombian artist named Salomón making shoes with Salomon is the kind of thing that would read as invented if a marketing department had pitched it, and the restraint in leaving it alone is probably the right call.
Retail is $150. For context, the XT-6 GORE-TEX Salomon put out this week sits at $200 and the Genesis 2 GORE-TEX at $170, so the artist collaboration is the cheapest of the three by a clear margin. That is restrained for a shoe carrying a name this size, and it reads like a brand that wants these worn rather than flipped. The raffle cuts the other way, because a raffle is a scarcity mechanism and a restrained price is not, and the two signals point in opposite directions. What the resale market does with it will say more about how far Feid’s audience overlaps with the sneaker audience than it will about the shoe.
The raffle for the ACS NEXXT “The Green Star” by Feid is open on salomon.com from October 5 to October 8, with the shoe listed at $150 under article reference L45506800 in Black, Bright Green and Green Gecko. Aggregators have the general release on October 10, a date Salomon’s own product page does not state, so treat it as unconfirmed until the brand posts it. Salomon’s regional stores across Latin America are carrying the same make-up.
