adidas BadBo 1.0 Night Navy Hides Its Puerto Rican Star Under the Foot

The adidas BadBo 1.0 arrives in Night Navy on September 26, the first time Bad Bunny’s signature silhouette has been cut in anything close to a dark colorway. Everything the shoe has done so far has been pale, chalky and deliberately soft. This one goes the other way, stacking three weights of blue suede over a cream midsole. The Puerto Rican reference that every writeup points to is real, and it is not quite where those writeups say it is.

The BadBo is the first shoe adidas built for Bad Bunny rather than handed to him. His run with the brand went through existing models first, the Forum, then the Response CL, then the Campus, each one rewired with his palette and his ideas about proportion. Those sold, and they sold hard, but they were adidas shoes wearing someone else’s name. The BadBo 1.0 landed in February 2026 as the first silhouette drawn from nothing for him, and it reads as a nineties basketball shoe put through a filter. The bones are recognizable: a bulbous midsole, layered suede panels over a structural shell, a mid collar that sits high enough to change how the shoe gets worn. What adidas did differently was cut windows into the quarter panel, curved triangular openings that expose a second layer underneath instead of sitting on top of it. The debut colorway was called Resilience and it was almost entirely white. Every BadBo since has been a test of how much color the shape can hold before it stops being readable.

Night Navy works in three registers of blue. A light blue base sits under panels of mid indigo and deep navy suede, the nap long enough that the two darker tones separate or merge depending on the angle. The triangular windows frame the palest of the three, so they read as openings rather than as applied overlays. Off-white rope laces run through a pale blue nylon eyestay, and the tongue carries a row of zigzag stitching across its base that looks like zipper teeth rendered in thread. The collar lining is terry cloth, loop pile and clearly visible from above, which no product description mentions. Neither does the small orange tab tucked inside the collar, the only warm color anywhere on the shoe. The midsole is cream. The outsole under it splits navy against a lighter blue with the chevron tread carrying across both. On the sockliner, a Trefoil sits at the forefoot and a six-point star inside a circle sits at the heel.

That star is the Puerto Rican flag reference, and putting it on the sockliner instead of the heel counter is the decision worth arguing about. Several writeups place it on the heel, which is where a brand chasing attention would put it, because that is the part of a shoe a phone camera can find. adidas put it under the foot. The choice matches how the whole BadBo project has behaved. Bad Bunny is the largest artist adidas has, and the shoe carrying his name has no signature logo, no name on the lateral side and nothing shouting from the quarter panel. It asks the shape to do the identifying, which is a bet most signature lines are not confident enough to make. Night Navy is the first time that bet gets tested against a colorway people will reach for without thinking about it.

Retail holds at $160, the same figure the BadBo 1.0 carried at its February debut, which is worth noting in a year when very little has held anything. That puts it above an adidas Campus, level with the upper end of Originals, and $40 above the low-top BadBo 1.1 releasing the same morning. The BadBo’s resale record is too short to read much into. The line is seven months old, the colorways so far have been quiet enough that the secondary market has not had a reason to move, and the Bad Bunny Gazelle in Solar Gold lined up for October is likely to be the louder of the two.

The adidas BadBo 1.0 Night Navy, style code LB5996, releases Saturday, September 26 at 7:00 a.m. adidas lists it on adidas.com as an app exclusive, shopped through the adidas app and CONFIRMED, and several outlets have also listed select retailers. The official colorway is Night Navy / Night Indigo / Bliss and retail is $160.
