The adidas BadBo 1.1 Loses the Mid Collar, and the Window Panels Finally Make Sense

The adidas BadBo 1.1 arrives in Chalk White on September 26, and it is the first real revision to Bad Bunny’s signature silhouette rather than another colorway of it. The mid collar is gone. The profile sits low. The cutouts that defined the original now show mesh where they used to show suede. adidas is calling this a 1.1 rather than a 2.0, which undersells how much of the shoe actually changed.

Understanding what changed means understanding what those cutouts were for. When the BadBo 1.0 landed in February 2026 as the first silhouette adidas drew from scratch for Bad Bunny, its most distinctive feature was a set of curved triangular windows punched through the quarter panel. On the 1.0 those windows expose a second suede layer underneath, so the effect stays tonal, a shoe showing more of itself. It is a handsome idea and it is also a quiet one, because suede against suede at slightly different shades does not read from more than a few feet away. The rest of the 1.0 was built like a nineties basketball shoe, with a bolstered mid collar, a heavy bulbous midsole and layered panels stacked over a structural shell. All of that added height, weight and a level of commitment most people do not want out of a lifestyle shoe. The 1.0 has been admired more than it has been worn.

The 1.1 addresses both problems with one cut. Dropping the collar takes the shoe below the ankle and removes the padded bolster entirely, and the proportions immediately make more sense, because the midsole no longer has a tower sitting on top of it. The windows now frame a dark charcoal mesh against chalk white and pale grey suede, which is the first time the cutouts have had enough contrast to register as cutouts at all. The toe picks up a reinforced overlay that breaks the original’s smooth curve and gives the front of the shoe a blunter, skate-adjacent shape. What carries over is the part worth carrying. Cream rope laces. The same zigzag stitch running across the base of the tongue like zipper teeth rendered in thread. A sockliner in sage green with a blue Trefoil at the forefoot and, at the heel, the same six-point star inside a circle that the Night Navy pair keeps hidden under the foot. The Pink in the official colorway name is not on the upper at all. It is the tongue and the terry collar lining, visible from directly above or while the shoe is being put on, and nowhere else.

Signature lines usually run the other direction. The first shoe is the statement, the second is the cheaper one built for volume, and the second is usually worse. This one is better, and the reason is that the 1.0’s most interesting idea was fighting its own silhouette. A brand with Bad Bunny’s audience could have run the 1.0 through twelve colorways and let the shape do the selling. adidas instead shipped a redesign seven months in, kept the identity markers that cost nothing and cut the parts that were keeping people out. That is a signature line behaving like a product rather than like merchandise, and it happens less often than it should.

Retail is $120, which sits $40 under the BadBo 1.0 releasing the same morning and below the mid-tier of the adidas Originals line. The gap is an honest one, since the 1.1 uses less material, less padding and mesh where the 1.0 uses suede. It also drops the shoe into the range an adidas Campus or Samba occupies, which is the range where people buy a second pair instead of deliberating over a first. The BadBo has no resale record worth reading into, the line being seven months old, and a lower price on a lower shoe is not what the secondary market usually rewards. That is fine. This one looks built to be worn.

The adidas BadBo 1.1 Chalk White, style code LC5466, releases Saturday, September 26 at 7:00 a.m. adidas lists it on adidas.com as an app exclusive, shopped through the adidas app and CONFIRMED. Multiple outlets have reported that this is also the first BadBo to reach select skate shops, which adidas has not stated on its own channels. The official colorway is Chalk White / Grey Two / Pink and retail is $120.
