The Hélà Style "Roots" Puts Asia Irving's Name Next to Kyrie's

ANTA releases the Hélà Style “Roots” in a cream and butter yellow colorway called HER KAI & I on October 24, and the credit line is the part worth stopping on. Kyrie Irving’s lifestyle sneaker arrives co-created with his older sister, Asia Irving, a wardrobe stylist and fashion entrepreneur, a Temple University graduate, and his partner in the Mind Less apparel label. She has worked alongside him for years without her name landing on a shoe. This one carries it, and the design is quieter for it.

The Hélà Style is the less visible half of Irving’s ANTA deal. His signature basketball line takes the attention, and the lifestyle collection is the one built directly out of his family history. Hélà is the Lakota name Irving carries, and the collection debuted during his China tour, the same trip on which ANTA installed him as Chief Creative Officer. The launch ran as a fashion show in Shenyang rather than a product drop, which told you what the brand thought it was holding.

ANTA Hélà Style

ANTA’s own description of the line leans on that heritage without hedging. The “Chief Hélà” makeup uses a brown suede upper with Native American-inspired detailing and tassels at the heel, and Irving’s quote in the brand’s copy frames the shoe as a tribute to his ancestors rather than a design exercise. The “Roots” pack that followed on February 13, 2025, timed to NBA All-Star Weekend, cut the idea down to three monochrome suedes in white, brown and black, each running multi-color laces across the tongue. That lace treatment became the line’s signature, and every colorway since has had to answer to it.

HER KAI & I is the most restrained thing the Roots has worn. The upper is cream throughout, mixing smooth leather with suede panels, and the only real color is a butter yellow wrap at the heel and a yellow mesh lining that shows at the collar. A small embroidered emblem sits centered on the heel patch. The laces still do the work the line gives them, two sets layered over one another, a grey and white mesh pair threaded against flat cream laces finished with yellow aglets and left deliberately long.

Star-shaped perforations run across the toe box, and the midsole carries the sculpted relief that gives the Roots its sidewall, a raised wave pattern that wraps from the heel forward into the midfoot. Two details settle who the shoe is for. The outsole carries an 11 set into the forefoot tread, and the sockliner is printed HER KAI & I. ANTA’s release describes butter yellow accents that soften into something tender, which is marketing language, and in this case the photographs back the restraint the copy is claiming. A gold ANTA mark sits low on the lateral midfoot, small enough that it reads as a finish rather than a logo.

ANTA Hélà Style

Co-creation credits in basketball footwear usually go to another athlete, a musician, or a designer with a label behind them. Handing one to a sibling who is not signed to the brand is unusual, and it follows September’s “Protect Your Sisters” capsule, which worked the same ground in warm pinks and washed purple ombré. Taken together the two releases read less like a marketing beat and more like Irving using the lifestyle line to carry what the performance line cannot. The brand frames both releases around sisterhood and chosen family, and the second one puts a name to it.

The problem is where it lands. ANTA keeps routing its most specific releases through its own site and a single Beverly Hills store, the same pattern that put the KAIBRID “Spades” in exactly one location. For a brand that has spent 2026 arguing it belongs in the American conversation, putting a co-created release with a story this particular in front of two points of sale is a choice, and not an obviously good one.

ANTA Hélà Style

At $130 the Roots is priced as an entry point rather than a collector item, which is close to the opposite of what a story-heavy co-created release would ask from a brand with full Western distribution behind it. Resale history on the line is thin, and that is the honest version of the same point. The Hélà Style has never been available widely enough in the United States to build a secondary market, so two points of sale are more likely to produce a fast sellout than a resale figure worth quoting. That is a distribution outcome rather than a demand signal, and the two are easy to confuse.

The ANTA Hélà Style “Roots” in HER KAI & I releases October 24 at $130, through Anta.com and the ANTA store in Beverly Hills. ANTA has not published a style code for the colorway and it was not on the product listing at the time of writing, where the Hélà Style currently shows fifteen other colorways split across its Wild, Chill and Classic builds.
