The New Balance 1890P arrives in Team Red with Pink Eraser accents, released August 26, 2026.

The 1890 is New Balance doing what it has done well for the last five years, which is mining its own back catalog and rebuilding the parts that still work. The silhouette pulls from the 890v3 and the archival 2002, and it runs the ABZORB cushioning setup that helped make the 2002 a repeat seller once the brand finally brought it back. The result reads modern without turning into a full tech exercise.
The P version is the tougher one. It swaps the standard 1890’s forefoot overlay for a molded plastic cage that wraps the front of the shoe, and it layers leather over the teardrop heel panel in place of thinner synthetic. That adds weight and shape, and it gives the silhouette a more built-up profile.
This pair runs a Team Red mesh upper under pink forefoot plating, with the contrast doing most of the work. New Balance has been keeping the 1890P on mostly flooded color schemes broken up by a second shade across the cage, and that formula holds here.
This shows New Balance is comfortable letting one silhouette carry several variants at once rather than forcing a single hero colorway. That is a luxury only a brand with real momentum has.
