Nike’s Air Max 90 Gets a Squared-Off Toe in All-Volt Green

Nike Air Max 90

Nike showed a square-toed Air Max 90 at Paris Fashion Week, and it is exactly the kind of swing that gets a room talking. The version on display comes in an all-volt green with crisp white edges outlining every leather panel, a bold, geometric reworking of one of the brand’s most recognizable running-inspired silhouettes. This is not a colorway update. It is a change to the shape itself.

The Air Max 90 has been a fixed point in the culture since 1990, prized precisely because its lines are so familiar. Squaring off the toe is a deliberate provocation, the sort of move that reads as fashion-week theater until you realize it might signal where Nike is actually heading with its classics. Reshaping a heritage model keeps it in the conversation without simply recoloring it for the hundredth time, and it lets Nike test how far it can push a silhouette people think they already know.

The volt treatment does the rest of the talking. It is one of Nike’s loudest colors, tied to some of its most memorable releases, and pairing it with the hard white paneling turns the shoe into a graphic object more than a running shoe. On a runway, that is the point. Whether it survives the trip to a wide retail release, and in what form, is the real question.

For now, treat this as a signal rather than a shopping list. If Nike is willing to alter the toe box of the Air Max 90, the rest of the back catalog is fair game, and that is worth watching. We will update with release details if this moves from the runway to a proper drop. For more, see our Nike coverage.
