ANTA releases the KAI 3 “Alchemist” on September 12 at $135, and where it lands matters as much as what it looks like. Kyrie Irving’s third signature shoe with the Chinese brand arrives in deep forest green and metallic gold, and it goes out through Dick’s Sporting Goods, Scheels, Sneaker Politics and Shoe Gallery alongside ANTA’s own store and site. For a brand most American buyers still think of as an import, that retail list is the part worth reading twice.

The KAI line is barely two and a half years old. ANTA launched the KAI 1 in March 2024, and by September 2026 the company is three signature models deep with Irving, a cadence most signature lines take twice as long to reach. The KAI 3 itself is built low and grounded. A nitrogen-infused foam midsole sits inside a denser foam carrier, which keeps the ride close to the floor and prioritizes court feel over stack height. The upper is a hot-melt fused textile with leather at the tongue and heel, and a TPU sidewall runs from the midsole up onto the lateral wall to hold the foot through hard cuts. Traction is a custom pattern rather than herringbone, laid out in several directions on a soft rubber compound that grips well indoors and gives up durability outside. It is a specific shoe built for a specific player, which is what a signature line is supposed to be and something ANTA arrived at faster than its price tier would suggest.
“Alchemist” runs deep forest green across the upper with metallic gold worked through the branding and the detailing. ANTA describes the pattern work as tribal-inspired, and it reads clearest on the heels, where gold and teal embroidery wraps the counter. A gold circular medallion sits on the medial side near the collar. The press images add one thing the release notes leave out: the midsole is a bright volt that runs the length of the shoe and carries onto the outsole, so the pair is considerably louder in hand than “forest green and gold” prepares you for. That contrast is the design. The concept behind it is alchemy, the transformation of base material into something more valuable, which ANTA and Irving tie to leadership and to turning difficulty into strength.

Every KAI 3 colorway has been a concept. 432HZ, Mastery, Mother’s Love, Magnetic Energy, Triple Black “Shadow Work” and now “Alchemist.” That is deliberate and it is unusual. Most signature lines run team colors, city editions and player exclusives, and the story gets attached after the shoe exists. Irving’s line inverts the order, and the concept is the brief the designers work to. Whether that converts is a separate question, and the honest read is that the naming has done more for the line’s identity than for its sell-through. The more consequential development is the retail list. ANTA opened a Beverly Hills flagship this year, and the “Alchemist” ships into Dick’s and Scheels, which is mall and big-box America rather than the boutique channel where the brand has mostly lived. Distribution is the thing that decides whether a signature line becomes a business, and this is the first KAI release where that question has a real answer. ANTA is also older than most American buyers assume. The company was founded in Fujian in 1991, one of three Chinese sportswear brands started inside three years, after Peak in 1989 and Li-Ning in 1990. Three and a half decades of manufacturing and domestic retail sit behind the KAI line, which is the part that makes the Dick’s and Scheels placement look less like a gamble and more like a company finally pointing its existing scale at the US.

The $135 price has not moved. ANTA currently lists 432HZ, Mastery, Mother’s Love and Triple Black at $135, with the KAI Mentality and Patchwork makeups at $150, and the KAI 1 still sits at $125. Across three signature models in two and a half years the line has climbed ten dollars. Set against a Nike or Jordan Brand signature shoe at $140 to $200, that gap is the argument ANTA has been making since Irving signed with the brand, and it is why the line comes up in performance conversations more often than its US name recognition would predict.
The ANTA KAI 3 “Alchemist” releases Saturday, September 12 at $135. It will be available at ANTA.com and the ANTA Beverly Hills flagship, and at Dick’s Sporting Goods, Scheels, Sneaker Politics and Shoe Gallery, with JD Canada carrying it north of the border. ANTA has not published a style code for this colorway.
