Anthony Edwards continues to build out his signature footwear catalog with the adidas AE Mule, a recovery-focused slip-on coming this fall. The open-backed mule takes design cues from Edwards’ on-court basketball shoes and packages them into a casual off-court option.
The rise of recovery footwear has become a key focus for major sneaker brands over the past few years. Nike, New Balance, and adidas have all invested in pre- and post-game shoes designed to support athletes during downtime away from competition. These models typically feature molded foam constructions and slip-on silhouettes that prioritize comfort and quick on-and-off convenience. The AE Mule follows this formula, delivering a straightforward design that mirrors the visual language of Edwards’ AE3 basketball shoe.

The mule features textile inner lining for comfort and sharp tooth-like cutouts running down each side of the shoe, creating negative space in the design. The tongue area displays the AE logo, tying the recovery shoe directly to his performance line. The debut colorway is Bliss Blue, a soft blue shade that stands out from typical neutral recovery shoe offerings.
Edwards signed with adidas in 2022 and has since released multiple signature basketball shoes, establishing himself as one of the brand’s key basketball athletes. The expansion into lifestyle and recovery footwear marks another step in growing his signature presence beyond just court performance. This move aligns with how major basketball stars now develop more comprehensive signature ecosystems that cover different occasions and use cases.

The AE Mule is priced at $70, making it an accessible entry point for fans looking to grab Edwards’ signature gear. It will release through adidas and select retailers on October 1, 2026.
