Concepts Built Its adidas Taekwondo F50 for Women Who Make Things

Concepts put its version of the adidas Taekwondo F50 out on November 22, 2025, timed it to a block party on Newbury Street, and built the whole thing around women who spend years getting good at something. The shoe is called Selene. The campaign is called Her Time, Her Touch. Our file had the year wrong by twelve months, which is worth fixing on a release whose silhouette did not exist in the year we had filed it under.

The Taekwondo F50 is two adidas things welded together, and neither is quite what the coverage says it is. The Taekwondo is not an early-2000s retro. adidas introduced it in January 2019 as a brand new women’s silhouette drawn from archive martial arts footwear, a canvas slip-on with an elasticated vamp, a gum outsole and gold foil branding. It sold for $90 and went largely unnoticed until 2024, when the turn toward flat shoes pulled it back into circulation. The F50 is the other half, an adidas football boot franchise that launched in 2004 ahead of Euro 2004 and carried Lionel Messi through the back half of that decade. The hybrid landed in 2025, putting the F50’s shiny leather upper on the Taekwondo’s flat sole and laceless construction.

Concepts’ build is women’s sizing only, which is the part our earlier post left out and the part the campaign is actually about. Style code is KJ3829. The upper is synthetic with metallic detailing, the lining textile and the outsole rubber, and beyond that the color story is unsettled. Concepts never published a colorway name. Its own product URL encodes adidas shorthand reading as silver metallic, tech olive and auburn. Hypebeast described metallic silver, orange and lavender purple. Sneaker Bar Detroit described soft violet and yellow. Three descriptions, no agreement and no brand string to settle it, so treat anything specific you read about the colors as one writer’s eye rather than adidas’s.

There is one thing worth resisting here. Selene is the Greek Titan of the moon, and it would be easy to write that Concepts named the shoe for her. Concepts never says so. Read every line of its own release and the word appears only as the shoe’s name, with no moon, no lunar imagery and no mythology anywhere in the copy. The nearest thing to a hint is a crescent emoji in one outlet’s social post. That is not a source, and a shop this deliberate about its concepts would have said it if it meant it.

Concepts has earned the benefit of the doubt on concepts. Tarek Hassan founded it in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1996, years before street, skate and fashion were routinely sold under one roof, and it now runs stores in Boston, New York and Dubai. Its best-known work is the Nike SB Dunk Lobster series, which started in 2008 and has outlasted most of the collaborations that launched alongside it. With adidas the history is shorter but not thin. The Consortium Energy Boost Shiatsu arrived in July 2018. The ZX 9000 followed in September 2020 as the C in adidas’s A-ZX series, built on the Boston Marathon and the mylar blanket handed to finishers. Both were ideas before they were products, which is the shop’s whole method.

Retail was $120. The number that makes that interesting is that a general-release Taekwondo F50 is also $120. Concepts charged no collaboration premium at all, which is rare enough to read as a decision rather than an oversight. The shoe was a Concepts exclusive, sold through its stores and cncpts.com and never listed on adidas.com, so scarcity did the work a price increase usually does. General-release pairs have since been discounted to $72 and $96 on adidas’s own site, which is the more useful comparison for anyone weighing a resale ask today.

CNCPTS for the adidas Taekwondo F50 Selene, style code KJ3829, released November 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. EST for $120 at Concepts stores and on cncpts.com, in women’s sizing. The launch block party ran outside the Boston flagship at 18 Newbury Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., free to attend, with female-owned vendors, local artists and performers. No outlet published anything after release day, so we are not going to tell you how fast it went. The style code will find surviving pairs at eBay, GOAT and StockX.
