Nike’s CryoShoot X2 collection launched this morning with a surprise addition from Jordan Brand. The pop-up shop at 47 Chrystie Street in New York City revealed the Jordan x Nike CryoShot Mercurial Vapor 1, a reworked version of the boot Ronaldo wore during Brazil’s 2002 World Cup campaign.
The CryoShot line reimagines archival soccer boots with a clear rubber sole encasing the spikes. Jordan Brand’s contribution features a crinkled leather upper with suede Swooshes throughout, finished in University Red. The heel showcases an iridescent elephant print with glossy chrome trim. The most distinctive detail sits underneath, where a photo of Michael Jordan is sealed inside the clear TPU sole.

This marks the eighth and final member of the CryoShot X2 project. Seven other collaborative styles launched earlier this week as part of Nike’s summer World Cup initiative, bringing in various partners to reimagine classic boots in their home country colors. The Jordan Brand contribution caught observers off guard as an undisclosed addition to what was previously announced as a seven-piece collection.
The Mercurial Vapor 1 sits at the heart of soccer boot heritage. The original silhouette debuted in the late 1990s and became one of the sport’s most iconic performance designs. This CryoShot iteration reimagines that legacy through a fashion lens, applying Jordan Brand’s aesthetic to the soccer classic.
