Nike Builds a Konbini Pack Around Japan’s Iconic Convenience Stores

Nike has tapped Japan’s convenience store culture as the theme for a new Air Max 95 pack. The collection is called the “Konbini” Pack, and it pairs two colorways, each one built around a different Japanese convenience store chain. One colorway draws from 7-Eleven, and the other, called “Lawson,” takes its cues from the Lawson chain. The result is a pair of layered runners that use real-world retail branding as a design brief.

Nike has been one of the most recognizable names in footwear since its founding in 1964, and its Air Max line sits at the center of that legacy. Launched in 1987, the Air Max family made Nike’s visible cushioning technology a defining feature of sneaker design. The Air Max 95 arrived in 1995 and pushed the concept further, introducing a multilayered upper that drew from the human body and stacked gradients in a way that had not been done before on a running shoe. It became a staple in sneaker culture, particularly in Japan and the United Kingdom, where it built a devoted following well beyond its running roots. The Big Bubble variant updates the midsole with a larger, more prominent Air unit that gives the shoe a bolder stance on the ground.

The “Lawson” colorway in this pack focuses on the blue tones that define Lawson storefronts and signage across Japan. Grey suede covers the toe and tongue area, while the rest of the upper carries that chain-specific blue throughout. It is a clean, reference-heavy build that rewards anyone familiar with walking into a Lawson at 2 a.m. for a rice ball and a canned coffee.

The Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble “Lawson” is part of the two-shoe Konbini Pack and is scheduled to release on July 11. Price and SKU details were not confirmed in the source. For more from this silhouette, check out other Air Max 95 colorways or explore the broader Air Max Big Bubble lineup.
