Nike is combining two of its most recognizable silhouettes into one shoe, and designer Frank Cooke has given an early look at the result. The Air Max Goadome and Foamposite are coming together in a new hybrid releasing in the ‘Eggplant’ colorway, currently expected to arrive in Spring 2027.
Nike has been a dominant force in footwear since its founding in 1964, building a catalog that spans performance running, basketball, and outdoor use. Over the decades the brand has pushed material and construction boundaries, and two of its most distinctive outputs sit at the heart of this release. The Air Max Goadome started life as a rugged outdoor boot, built around Nike’s Air cushioning platform and designed for serious trail and work environments. It carries a chunky, utilitarian profile that stands apart from the brand’s cleaner lifestyle and court silhouettes. Earlier this year Nike revived the Goadome as a low-top model, bringing the thick-soled boot shape into a new format.
The Foamposite line introduced something genuinely different when it launched in the late 1990s. Its defining feature is a one-piece molded shell upper, formed from a proprietary foam material that holds its shape and reflects light in ways traditional textiles cannot. The technology was developed for performance basketball but quickly crossed over into collector culture, where colorways like ‘Eggplant’, with its shifting blue and purple iridescence depending on light and angle, became benchmarks. That same molded construction is what Nike has applied to the Goadome base for this hybrid, replacing the usual single-piece nubuck upper with a Foamposite shell cast in the full ‘Eggplant’ color scheme.
Frank Cooke is the designer behind this preview. Cooke returned to Nike and Jordan Brand in 2024 after six years away from the company and has been sharing early glimpses of upcoming work since his return. Nike reportedly asked him to stop the previews earlier this year, but this latest look suggests that request did not hold.
The hybrid sits on the low-top Goadome platform with the rest of the shoe dressed in black. A small reverse Swoosh outline appears at the collars in purple, tying back to the ‘Eggplant’ palette. Style code IV7693-500 points to Spring 2027 for the release, with an expected price of $200, though that figure has not been confirmed. Retailer information has not been announced.
