The PUMA x 247 by Represent ULTRA NITRO 7 ULTIMATE FG went on sale this morning, September 9, in a Sugared Almond, PUMA Black and PUMA White colorway, style 109370_01. Represent is listing it at $290 in the United States and PUMA has it at £240 in the United Kingdom. It is the first football boot 247 has ever put its name on, and it costs $50 more than the ULTRA NITRO 7 ULTIMATE that PUMA sells with identical technology inside it.
PUMA built the ULTRA line as its speed boot and launched it in August 2020 with the ULTRA 1.1, and the brief has not really moved since. PUMA was explicit at the time that the goal was not the lightest boot possible but a boot with the right weight for speed, which is a more interesting position than the gram-counting the category was doing then, and it gave the line a reason to exist next to the FUTURE and the KING. The current generation carries NITROFOAM ELITE in the sole for energy return, an ULTRAWEAVE upper for lockdown, and FastTrax 2.0 studs shaped around change of direction rather than straight-line pace. becausesneakers covered the FAST-R NITRO Elite 3 in June, and the same nitrogen-infused foam story runs through both, which is PUMA doing what it has been doing well for several years now, taking one material platform and pushing it across running and football rather than inventing a new acronym per category.
What 247 has actually changed is the surface. The upper is a soft cream, described by Represent as Sugared Almond, set against a black PUMA formstrip and an iridescent soleplate that shifts color depending on how the light hits it. On a category where the default is a fluorescent boot designed to be seen from the far touchline, a cream boot with an oil-slick plate is a real departure, and it is the kind of restraint a clothing brand brings that a boot designer usually cannot get signed off. The construction underneath is untouched. Same ULTRAWEAVE, same NITROFOAM ELITE, same stud pattern. This is a colorway and a finish, done well, and Represent is honest enough about that in its own product copy rather than inventing a performance claim to justify the tag.

Represent has done two collaborations with PUMA in running before this, so football is the expansion rather than the introduction, and Cody Gakpo fronting it is the part that gives it credibility. A boot campaign built on a Liverpool and Netherlands forward who actually wears the ULTRA is a different thing from a fashion label borrowing a silhouette for a lookbook, and the wider pattern is worth watching. Boots have been the last footwear category that streetwear brands could not get into, because the performance bar is real and the buying cycle is set by clubs and kit deals rather than by drops. That is loosening. PUMA in particular has spent this year handing the pen to outside designers across its line, from the J.L-A.L Cell Geo to the Madhappy Suede, and this is the first time that approach has reached a boot a professional would actually wear. A British fashion brand putting its performance sub-label on a top-tier firm ground boot, sold through its own site rather than a football retailer, is a route into the category that did not exist five years ago.
The pricing is where it gets hard to defend. The standard ULTRA NITRO 7 ULTIMATE is $240 on us.puma.com right now across every colorway PUMA lists, including the women’s and the Brilliance makeup, so $290 at Represent is a $50 premium for a cream upper and an iridescent plate. That is a 21 percent uplift on a boot with no added technology, and it is being asked in a category where the people buying $240 boots are already stretching. The comparison that matters is the kids’ ULTRA NITRO 7 ULTIMATE at $115 on the same site, which is the same silhouette at less than half the money. There is a real audience for a boot that looks like this. Whether it is an audience that plays on firm ground on Saturday is a separate question.

The PUMA x 247 by Represent ULTRA NITRO 7 ULTIMATE FG is available now in Sugared Almond, PUMA Black and PUMA White, style 109370_01, at $290 through representclo.com and £240 through PUMA UK. It is not listed on the United States PUMA site, so Represent is the American point of sale. PUMA opened it at 9AM CET.
