Open Reebok’s own basketball page and count the signature shoes. There is one. Angel Reese has it. Darius Acuff Jr., Lauren Betts, Tre Mann, DiJonai Carrington, Matas Buzelis, Aneesah Morrow and Nate Ament are all on the roster, and all of them play in the team-line Engine A. A brand with no NBA signature athlete at all has built its entire relaunch around a women’s basketball player, and the Atomic Aqua is the newest evidence of it.

Two things about Reese need correcting before anything else, because both are still being repeated. She does not play for the Chicago Sky. Atlanta acquired her on April 6, sending Chicago first-round picks in 2027 and 2028 plus the right to swap 2028 second-rounders. And her 446 rebounds as a rookie in 2024, the number sneaker coverage has called a record for two years, was not one for long. A’ja Wilson passed it 16 days later and finished that season with 451.
What she has now is better and harder to argue with. On August 25 she pulled 26 rebounds against the Sparks, taking the WNBA single-game record from Chamique Holdsclaw, who had held it since 2003. The same night she passed Wilson’s 451 for the single-season mark, reaching 458 in 37 games. She got to 1,000 career rebounds faster than anyone in league history in June, and on September 17 she recorded her 30th double-double of the season, passing Alyssa Thomas. Three seasons, three All-Star selections, and she has led the league in rebounding in two of them.
The shoe under all that is a molded TPU Exoskeleton upper, which Reebok says it evolved from its Mobius line into the shape of a wing. Underneath sits ERS cushioning with nitrogen-infused SuperFloat foam, a TPU stability cup in the heel and a high-abrasion rubber outsole. Reese’s logo is on the tongue. Atomic Aqua puts a saturated teal across the upper with black on the tooling, and it released alongside a Metal Green pair in Chalk, Vintage Chalk and Dew.
The line’s short history tells you how fast this has moved. Reese signed with Reebok in October 2023 as an NIL deal out of LSU, the first athlete Shaquille O’Neal signed after being named President of Reebok Basketball that same month. A multi-year extension in October 2024 promised a signature shoe in 2026. It shipped in September 2025 instead, a year early, with three colorways at once, and all three sold out the day they launched. Reebok has never published a unit number, so a fast sellout against undisclosed stock is a signal rather than a sales figure.
The strategic read here is not complicated, and it is more interesting than a colorway. Reebok became a league-authorised WNBA footwear supplier in December 2024, launched the Engine A in February 2025 as its first performance basketball shoe in over a decade, and has since built a roster where half the named players are women. Putting its only signature line on a WNBA player is not a gesture. It is the cheapest available route back into basketball for a brand that cannot outbid Nike for an NBA star, and it is working faster than the NBA-side attempts other brands have made in the same window. Whether Reebok can hold that position once the category gets expensive is the real question, and nothing about the first twelve months answers it.
Retail is $135, up from $120 at launch a year ago, and there is a Reese’s collaboration in the line at $160. A $40 spread inside twelve months is aggressive for a signature line in its first year. What makes it defensible is where it sits against the competition rather than against its own history: Nike’s Sabrina 4 is $135 and the Caitlin 1 arrives October 1 at $140. Reebok is pricing a WNBA signature shoe at parity with Nike while having nothing on an NBA floor to subsidise it. One caution if you are shopping, there are two Angel Reese 1 colorways using the words Atomic Aqua. This one is the teal and black pair. A separate Atomic Aqua, Dream Purple and Peri Blue makeup exists at a different code and a different price.
Style code is 100272083, officially Atomic Aqua, Atomic Aqua and Black, though Reebok and Reese both call it Aqua in everything but the colorway string. It released August 31 at Reebok and Dick’s Sporting Goods, and remains available. Reebok published nothing about this colorway on its newsroom, so the date comes from release reporting rather than the brand. One thing worth being careful about: Reese has no title at Reebok. She is a design collaborator and a partner, not an executive, whatever you see written elsewhere.
