On and FP Movement put two shoes into DICK’S Sporting Goods on September 3, and the one to look at first is the Cloudmonster 3 in Dusty Rose. An allover floral jacquard runs across the engineered knit, cream laces sit against it, and the On logo is dropped back to a muted grey so the print carries the shoe. Underneath it is still a max-cushion running shoe built for long miles. The collection is exclusive to DICK’S, it is women’s only, and it is the second time in two months that Free People’s activewear line has put its name on a serious performance runner at that retailer.
The Cloudmonster is the shoe that answered the question of whether On could build something soft. For years the brand’s identity was those hollow CloudTec pods and a ride that read firm and a little clinical, tuned for turnover rather than comfort. The Cloudmonster went the other way, stacking the pods taller and thicker and aiming squarely at the cushioned trainers runners actually log easy miles in. The third generation runs triple-layer CloudTec under On’s Helion superfoam, wraps it in an engineered knit upper, and shapes the whole thing into a pronounced rocker so the foot rolls forward rather than fighting the stack. A compressed rubber outsole handles the wear. It is On’s daily distance shoe, and it is the one the brand hands to someone training for a marathon rather than racing one.
What FP Movement changed is the surface. The Dusty Rose pair carries a botanical jacquard woven through the knit rather than printed on top of it, with the pattern continuing across the tongue and down onto the midsole wall. The pods are tinted to match. A White and Pearl version covers the same shoe in a quieter finish. The Cloud X Tempo takes a different route, arriving in Ivory and Chalk with a three-tone engineered mesh, a 3D print worked into the upper, a soft knit tongue, and toggle pulls on the laces instead of a standard tie. Both are cut in women’s sizes 6 to 11, medium width only.

The Cloud X Tempo is the choice worth sitting up for. On released it this year as a hybrid trainer for the strength-plus-cardio crowd, and the platform has a carbon-plated Pro version co-developed with a HYROX world record holder. That is a shoe built for the least decorative corner of fitness, and FP Movement has put it out in ivory. Read charitably, that is a bet on who is actually in those classes, and it is a more interesting bet than another lifestyle runner in beige. Pair it with the ASICS GEL-Nimbus 28 that FP Movement did in July and the shape becomes clear. This is a repeat program at one retailer, not a one-off, and the brands supplying it are the ones runners take seriously.
FP Movement is worth explaining, because the name does not travel far outside its own customer. It is Free People’s activewear arm, owned by Urban Outfitters, roughly fifteen years old as a category and only broken out into standalone stores since 2020. Until this summer it had never done a footwear collaboration at all. The ASICS project in July was the first, two styles, a GEL-Challenger 15 at $130 and the GEL-Nimbus 28 at $180. On is the second, and it lands two months later at a higher ceiling. That cadence says more than either shoe does. A brand testing footwear once is running an experiment. A brand doing it twice in a quarter, with two different performance partners, at the same retailer, is building a channel. DICK’S gets an exclusive its running wall cannot otherwise offer, and On gets placed in front of a customer who shops apparel first and shoes second.
Pricing is where the collaboration tax shows up, and it is smaller than expected. The Cloudmonster 3 is listed at $190 in its standard form and the FP Movement version is $199.99. The Cloud X Tempo runs $180 on On’s own site against $189.99 here. Ten dollars on each, consistently, which is modest for an exclusive colorway with a woven pattern in it. Compare that against the premium a lifestyle collaborator would command on the same platform and this reads as a retailer partnership priced to sell through rather than to sit and resell.
Both shoes arrived at DICK’S Sporting Goods on September 3 and are available now. The Cloudmonster 3 is $199.99 in Dusty Rose and White/Pearl. The Cloud X Tempo is $189.99 in Ivory/Chalk. Sizes run 6 to 11 in medium width, women’s only, with no men’s or unisex run announced. For more on the platform, see our look at the On LightSpray Cloudmonster 3 Hyper.
